If Tony Romo were a regular guy with a new girlfriend who constantly forgot all those days that girls like to get gifts on like anniversaries, Birthdays, Valentines Day, he’d have been dumped a long time ago. Even though its maybe 5 or 6 times out of the year those days hold the most weight.
If Tony Romo had a regular job like us and constantly under performed on big assignments when all the bosses had him under a microscope, he would be in discussions about if that was the job for him or not.
I could give more examples but I won’t. I’m just trying to figure out if we can finally come to terms with Tony Romo not being the guy who steps up. Weeks 3 Week 9 Week 12, that’s cool if you have a perfect QB rating or whatever but ever since 2006 Cownboy fans have been wondering when he’s going to make up for his post season mistake. Nobody knows how many passing yards Tom Brady has, but I bet you could name who he beat in the Super Bowls he was in. It’s not about stats it’s about moments, and so far he hasn’t given us many to be proud of.
I understand everybody doesn’t get to have immediate success in sports. Lebron took way too long in some people’s eyes to get his first ring. The difference though is while he wasn’t winning he was at least putting up the type of performances that made you think he was up next. MVP, scoring title or whatever. No one ever doubted IF he could do it they were waiting on WHEN. In football when Peyton Manning finally got the best of the Pats in the playoffs (when it matters) and won the superbowl he was still widely considered the best QB in the league even without a ring. My point is, do you see how far away the Cowboys are from getting to where they need to be? Now with RG3 in there, that will be another roadblock for years to come if he’s kept around. I don’t think his job is in jeopardy, he’s too likable and he smashes supermodels.
I’ve liked the Cowboys since a boy. That doesn’t mean though that I can’t be honest. Some fans think you turn your back on a team soon as you start bad mouthing them or a player. Well what do you call the GM’s who call for the trades and things like that. All I do is root for the team, they OWN them. Their loyalty ain’t called into question nearly as much. Maybe as fans we need to fall out of love, and start treating our fanhood as a business. Tony you gotta do better, this is your verbal, written and final warning.
