I’m talking about rich guys (or women). I’m not talking about rappers or singers. I’m talking about the guys who sign their checks. The people behind the scenes that remain out of the spotlight. The money well is just plain obscene. But @thecropscream and I had the opportunity to witness their lifestyle up close for ourselves. We saw how individuals that have multimillion dollar mansions and multimillion dollars yacht(s) are living. Yes yachts as in plural. I don’t know why the fact during our tour in Ft. Lauderdale when our Captain mentioned individuals owning two or more yachts struck me. Maybe because having one yacht seems so inconceivable to me that owning two just seems plain ridiculous. Who am I to tell someone what do with their money? I know managing my thousands is nowhere close to how someone manages billions. In order to dock your boat at this prime location it costs about $600/day. Also for some of these mega-yachts it will run you about $10,000 per fill up.
But it seems to me maybe some people just plain have too much. Most of the yachts and the homes we saw while being beautiful were unoccupied. They were someone’s summer home, away-from-home home, or bachelor pad. We did see some children out playing in their mini-sailboats. But I’m sure the pure opulence of living in those surroundings eventually wears off. I’m not saying these individuals don’t work that hard. But do they work any harder than I do? I choose not to believe so. I work very hard at my job. I spend time studying and researching to get even better at my job. Is it maybe, the responsibility they bear comes at a premium? Did you know?…CEO pay spiked 725 percent between 1978 and 2011, while worker pay rose just 5.7 percent, according to a study by the Economic Policy Institute. That means CEO pay grew 127 times faster than worker pay. I won’t dive deep into income inequality. But the data is out there for those interested. But you can clearly see why some people have two yachts while most have none. But I took two vacations this year while some people who work hard do not have the luxury to take one.
“Everything is Vanity”
Oh well I will keep on living my life just as these people are living their lives. They say you can’t take it all with you anyway. How much do any of us really need to survive? Enjoy your life, family, and friends FD community. If you have a boat or yacht enjoy that too. Just make your own cool and continue to live as fresh as possible.
Enjoy some of the photos I took on my trip!
