Who Are You At Work?

The job can be quite a colorful place.  That’s why everyone can relate to “The Office” , everyone can identify with someone.  When you’re at work you have to deal professionally with people everyday you wouldn’t normally give the time of day.  You cherish your weekends to not only relieve yourself from your actual work load, but to also remove yourself from from the company of people who like it or not due to the amount of time forced to spend with them, are your family.  Okay, extended family but still.  The “TMI” that you’ve received over the years warrants your relationship be taken up a notch from mere workmates.  Even with all that, you still have a gauntlet of crazies folks to contend with each day.  I’ve compiled a list of characters I think you will be able to find at any place of employment.

The Suck Up – This is the guy who’s always in the boss face bragging about another sale.  The first take take the manager to lunch, remembering national bosses day, bringing up every instance they go above and beyond.  All the while their actual work performance is sub par. Hey, you’ve got something on your nose.

The Know It All – The guy that likes to correct the trainer in class, referring to his past professional experiences.  Always has something to add in, can never let a work related convo go by without his input. #BSYADASTFU !

The Gossiper – You never see this person person hanging out with anyone, but miraculously have the inside scoop on EVERYONE.  One visit to the copier next to the wrong person and you’ll walk away knowing about cases pending, drunken nights, and who screwed their way to a promotion.  Be cautious around this one.  With skill, this one can be utilized as an ally in the war of the workplace.

The Complainer – New procedures, new rules, new product trainings they all bother this one.  No particular reason, they just don’t like change.  The complainer also like to make his distastes public so close association with this one may cost you in the eyes of your employer.

The Lazy One– No one knows how in the world this guy gets by unnoticed.  He’s mastered the art of flying under the radar.  The rules don’t apply to this one and consequences seem to dodge this guy like the plague.  Don’t envy though, things in the dark always come to light.

The Veteran – Old faithful.  Has been around for years and years.  Knows the ins and outs and has seen many come and go.  They obviously know what it takes to get and keep a job.  They also know the sweet spot on the printer to kick when it gets jammed.  Stick around and soak up some of that wisdom.

If you don’t know somebody on this list, then you ARE somebody on this list.  I know there’s more that can be added but this is just a few.  Some are to be stayed away from , some you can befriend.  Choose wisely, you’re stuck with them either way.
