Let go of the Logo

From time to time you have to let go of an idea that has been engrained in your mind for years. It’s not always easy but you have to do it. As you get older your taste changes and so does your style. You start to appreciate things that you normally wouldn’t. You start to look outside the box to make proper decisions. Your money starts meaning a little more to you and you don’t risk throwing it away. So what if I told you that sometimes you can find some of the best clothes for you or that you would really enjoy and they didn’t have a logo so that everyone could see what or who you are wearing. Would you be willing to “let go of the logo”?

Let’s think about this for a second. Logos really serve one main purpose and that is to advertise! But for the sake of argument we will throw one more in there and that is to allow you to show off what you have or can afford. Some logos can be done in good taste for example a nice little polo symbol doesn’t take away from the quality or design of a Ralph Lauren Polo Shirt. On the other hand a nice big emblem on the back pocket of a pair of jeans you are trying to wear out to dinner with your sweetie can tremendously detract from the style you are trying to pull off. A big logo like that is exactly what you should be trying to “let go” of to keep your demeanor fresh. Do you need a logo? Can your outfit survive without a logo? Most certainly it can! As a matter of fact it might even add to your fresh classic look.

So what must you do to “let go of the logo”? Stop searching for a brand and start searching for your brand or your style. That would be a good starting point. Understand your age group. I know its popular today for people, men included (believe it or not), to wear gaudy shirts and bejeweled pants but if that isn’t your style, don’t buy it just because everyone else is doing it. “If everyone else was jumping…..” you get the point. Love your style and make your own decisions that should be all that matters. If you happen to be in JCP and a particular item catches your eye, don’t turn it down in your mind because it is coming from JCP. That’s another benefit of letting go of the logo, NO ONE HAS TO KNOW. No one is going to ask to see the tag and you don’t have to “sew tigers on your shirt and alligators.” If you’re comfortable with your style you can pull off just about any garment logo or not.

Search for quality. If you find a nice stylish name brand shirt that doesn’t have a logo on it but you know it will make an impression. Buy it! It’s so much more rewarding when someone has to ask you “Who makes that?” Now on the other hand if it’s that JCP shirt that you picked out and someone ask you “Who makes that”? I’ll let your conscious decide what you say there.

Bottom-line: Keep that demeanor of yours fresh by focusing on your own personal style rather than how noticeable the logo is. You’ll be surprised at how much better you will look and how much more you will love your wardrobe.
