ALBUM REVIEW- The Remember Me Mixtape

If you are reading this blog, chances are you like some of the same kinds of albums that I do. That being said, this week I have one for you that you probably haven’t heard of coming from Cleveland bred MC, Product. His “Remember Me” mix tape is a real triumph especially when you realize that he writes, records and mixes all the records himself without the use of a proper studio.

From the beginning its easy to see that he’s a gifted lyricist. He has a surprisingly nimble speech pattern which lends itself to rapping more fluidly than one might expect. Being from Ohio, there is no regional accent in the lyrics that make words that don’t rhyme rhyme, just a deft mastery of the dictionary.

The subject matter touches on things that most of his audience would be familiar with: partying, shopping, boasting and family issues. There are quite s few head nod worthy beats on the album as well. Keep in mind that since this is a mix tape, there is no defined “theme” to this album except to showcase the artists skill and entertain the listener.

The standout song here is “Polo Moments” where we find the artist flowing like the Rio Grande over one of the smoothest beats you’ll ever hear. Its a #lifestyle song, one that this reviewer wholly endorses. We find him really opening up about his personal life on “Away So Long” and “Blue Collar Mastermind” and giving a little insight to how his crew rolls on “Black Man’s Gold”. This is a really good listen if you’re on your way to work and need to get in your zone. Product really puts you in the mind of Phonte, not in style, but substance. Little Brother fans will LOVE this album.

Overall a superb listen for working men everywhere. If you have a mom, been fired from a job, love your wife, or ever enjoy a beer with your whiskey, you wanna given this download a listen. What do you have to lose? Your problems are still gonna be there when its over, but this will definitely help you zone out because Product helps you to see that by remembering him, you are not alone.
